This site is about lieder, or art songs, which are a form of classical music consisting mainly of voice and piano pieces, mostly from the Romantic period. Think Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Wolf, Strauss and Mahler, among others. The site will contain concert reviews, interviews and general articles.

But beware: I have just reinstalled ‘Du holde Kunst’, this time on WordPress. For practical reasons, I started by making a copy of the Schubert.nl website.

I am now in the process of deleting the Schubert.nl content (as it is already on schubert.nl) and adding both the old Du holde Kunst content (2012–2016) and new content.

As for the latter: I’ll start with a review of the Art of Song festival in Maastricht.

As for the old content: Firstly, I will republish the interview with Angelika Kirchschlager, and then I will publish the interview with Peter Schreier for the first time! I think they’re both quite interesting: Kirchschlager tells us how she once gave one of her best concerts after a night of drinking and partying, and Schreier tells us how he worked on Winterreise with Svjatoslav Richter. Later, I will add all the old reviews and interviews, as well as new ones, of course.
